Areas of Interest
Coastal villages, festive enclaves and lavish retreats decorate the Pacific and Mexican coastline.
|
|
 |
Acapulco, Mexico
An enduring
image that's been repeated countless
times on television and in movies is the
brave Mexican cliff diver. These
fearless souls often plunge over 100
feet into rock-infested waters;
definitely a "don't try this at home (or
here)" endeavor. If that's too much
exhilaration, pull up a hammock, soak up
the sun and surf on Acapulco's
world-famous beaches.

 |
Puerto
Vallarta, Mexico
A
traditional Mexican village inhabited by
genuinely warm people, Puerto Vallarta
features beautiful beaches, boutique
shopping and some of the most
picturesque and challenging golf courses
in the Western Hemisphere.

|
 |
Mazatlan, Mexico
If you can
manage to peel yourself off the placid
beaches for a short while, you can visit
one of the many shops and galleries that
dot this island known by many as the
"Pearl of the Pacific". To explore the
heart of Old Mazatlán put on some
comfortable shoes and take your time -
everyone else here does. It's one of the
most laid-back destinations in Mexico.

Ensenada, Mexico
The Riviera
Pacifica with the Bar of the Seven Sins
is located here. It boasts a colorful
past - it was once the playground of
California gentry and stars of the
silver screen. Festive shops, a main
street and a former prison that now
serves as an Aztec Museum are just some
of the highlights of this Baja Peninsula
favorite.

|
|
 |
Cabo
San Lucas, Mexico
This
southernmost enclave on the tip of the
Baja Peninsula features unearthly rock
formations, cantinas owned by rock stars
and hundreds of ways to enjoy yourself
on, in, under and close to the water.
Cabo is also blessed with a coastline
that's ideal for kayak exploration,
snorkeling, whale-watching or perhaps a
romantic rendezvous.

|
 |
Manzanillo, Mexico
Due to its
unique location on the peninsula,
Manzanillo features two bays, which
makes it one of Mexico's most important
ports. It's been that way for centuries,
and thanks to its beaches and inviting
lagoons, Manzanillo today has also
become a popular destination for the
aquatically inclined.

Ixtapa
(Zihuatanejo), Mexico
Pronounced
iks-tap-ah and zee-hwa-tan-eh-ho,
respectively, these lovely Mexican towns
are separated by only four miles. The
cobblestone streets of Zihuatanejo,
formerly a fishing village, take you
past a plethora of interesting shops and
art galleries. Ixtapa, in contrast to
the slightly more commercial nature of
Zihuatanejo, is home to what the ancient
Nahuatl Indians referred to as "the
white place": a beautiful stretch of
white-sand beaches.
